Personal Matters

The exhibition looks at what happens to art when it leaves the gallery display and becomes part of someone’s life.

Running in parallel, Personal Matters presents just eight works by Eurus Gallery artists.

The exhibition looks at what happens to art when it leaves the gallery display and becomes part of someone’s life.

Large-scale art enters our everyday environment through architecture and interiors. Wearable art enters it in a more intimate way — through the personality, memories and choices of the person who owns it. In bespoke works especially, the collector can become part of the creative process, adding meanings, memories and private messages that may remain invisible to everyone else.

Richard Wu is represented by two works.

The first is the Melody bracelet, in which turquoise, mother-of-pearl, diamonds and white gold form a musical code. Hidden within the composition are the notes of Shape of My Heart. The bracelet was commissioned by an American professor around a melody particularly meaningful to her and her husband.

The second bracelet belongs to Eurus Gallery founder Anna Minakova. After seeing Wu’s new bracelets created using his distinctive woven titanium technique, she commissioned her own version and selected a unique colour combination that had never previously appeared in the collection.

Another work in the exhibition was created by Anna Minakova for Epic Jewellery. Originally titled Secret Message, the concept uses diamonds with exceptionally strong fluorescence alongside diamonds without fluorescence, allowing a hidden message to appear under ultraviolet light. The work presented in Personal Matters is Anna’s personal amulets, in which this technique is used to encode names of her Children.

These are only some of the stories behind the eight objects presented in Personal Matters.

The rest are better discovered in person.
