The Spiky Heart pendant

Epic Jewellery continues its collaboration with contemporary artists from different countries and presents a new project created together with Olga Tobreluts, one of the most prominent figures on the international art scene. The collection is inspired by the artist’s recognisable spiky heart motif, previously explored in painting, lenticular print, and 3D sculpture. For Tobreluts, this project marked her first engagement with the jewellery medium, translating a sculptural and symbolic language into wearable form.

The series comprises 10 pendants, each realised in a different colour achieved through anodised titanium and set with diamonds. Within this body of work, one unique piece stands apart. Created as a singular object, it features an increased number of stones and is set with sapphires rather than diamonds, emphasising its one-of-a-kind status within the collection.

As Olga Tobreluts explains: “The idea is based on the symbol of the ‘flaming heart’ — a heart from which rays of love, compassion, and patience emanate. It represents the human soul, transformed through self-knowledge. Across cultures and eras, the heart has symbolised not only religious devotion, but also devotion to loved ones and to family.”

According to Anna Minakova, Creative Director of Epic Jewellery: “The most challenging aspect of this project was working with scale. We couldn’t simply reduce Olga’s sculpture.

The ‘Heart’ had to be reworked so that ‘change would not alter’: proportions, the number of spikes, and their parameters were reconsidered entirely, while ensuring the work remained immediately recognisable as part of Olga Tobreluts’ iconic series.”
