A Head of Time continues the collaboration among Ilya Fedotov-Fedorov, Epic Jewellery, and Creative Director Anna Minakova. The series was created for the artist’s solo exhibition, Second Skin. At the heart of Second Skin lie the artist’s personal experiences and his interest in bodily dissociation, fragility, and the boundary between the inner and the outer. In Fedotov-Fedorov’s work, fabric and skin become metaphors for the body, memory, and trauma. Through the use of clothing fragments, the artist transforms fabric into a new epidermis—a new surface of identity. The A Head of Time jewellery series develops this idea further. The helmet form becomes a second skin: a protective surface in which the physical properties of the material are inseparable from ideas of protection, vulnerability, and transformation.
