EPIC Contemporary Art Jewellery was founded in 2010 by
Zakhar Borisenko. From the very beginning, the brand focused
on themes of architecture and mechanics and collaborated with
contemporary artists and architects.
The brand has been recognized at major exhibitions and competitions around the world. Among its awards are the prize for the best jewellery design of the London Design Week and the prize for the most innovative jewellery piece of the XXI century from Gokhran in Russia.
Epic’s interpretation of the architectural theme is not limited to integrating decorative elements of buildings into jewellery, as often happens. Epic brings architectural plans of buildings and entire cities into the jewellery world, works with engineering constructions and thinks about what architecture would look like in space.
In 2020, the first exhibition of the brand took place at the Shchusev Museum of Architecture, one of the leading museums in Russia and the world’s largest research centers for the study and popularization of architectural heritage. The exhibition was the beginning of a successful partnership with the museum.
Mechanics are complex jewellery transformers. They are subdivided into «mechanics on demand» (you press a button, turn an element and the jewellery transforms) and kinetics.
Transformer is not only an exercise in how technically complex jewellery can be. It’s also the brand’s representation of modern life: you can go to the office in the morning and go to the theater in the evening. Traffic makes it hard to drive home to change, but jewellery can change your look in a single click.
EPIC works with both traditional materials and innovative ones — titanium, carbon or aluminium.
EPIC participates in key jewellery exhibitions around the world, such as the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and the International Jewellery Tokyo. It was the first Russian brand invited to participate in the main program of the Swiss GemGeneve exhibition. Besides that, Epic has participated in some of the largest art exhibitions, for example the parallel program of Art Basel. Zakhar Borisenko and Epic’s creative director Anna Minakova are also the founder of A-Z Artistic Duo.
